Best device for reading computer books and books in PDF format?

I was an early adopter of e-readers and have a few different models, from those with "e-ink" that update the screen just on page re-draw and have no backlight, to the newer Kindle Paperwhite with e-ink but with a backlight, to normal tablets. The problem is this: reading computer books (even those formatted for ereader/mobile) and PDF editions of books are very uncomfortable and the formatting is harsh.Normal books in epub/mobi format, such as fiction or my favorite genre history books look great on devices like the Paperwhite. Some books I can *only* find in PDF format and, while they aren't too easy to read, they are doable if they're mostly text. However, computer books tend to be large in size and have many diagrams, code examples, etc. that span multiple pages; they can be in color or black and white; and they have many different typesettings. An average programming computer book, in print, will find the reader flipping back and forth between pages or at least glancing at the two opposite pages one another to read a block of content. This is very difficult to do on most tablets, and is virtually impossible on e-ink e-reader devices. Also - just because there's an electronic book edition of a computer book or rare history book, it doesn't mean it will display properly on the reader! Is there anyone here that finds themselves reading computer books and history books in PDF format and, if so, what e-reader do you use for the most comfortable experience? What settings are best for displaying this content? This extends to viewing these PDFs on devices like the Paperwhite, but I am not adverse to picking up a new reader/tablet hybrid if it makes this kind of thing easier.I really would like to invest in a device to read these types of books comfortably.Thank you in advance! via /r/ebooks https://ift.tt/2za7NUo
